Philadelphia Zoo and PECO launch PECO Smart Ideas Challenge
Philadelphia Zoo is partnering with PECO to ‘Save Energy to Save Wildlife.’ Together the two organizations launched the PECO Smart Ideas Challenge® -- an in-depth curriculum experience focused on reinforcing energy conservation. More than 30,000 students from Title I schools across the region will be visiting the Zoo now through April 30th free of admission to participate in program.
Philadelphia Zoo says farewell to iconic Channel 6 ZooBalloon
Philadelphia Zoo officials today implemented a controlled release of the helium in the Channel 6 ZooBalloon. Due to unprecedented weather conditions throughout the winter especially last evening’s heavy snowfall, the balloon’s envelope has accumulated of five to ten tons of snow, which is equivalent to the weight of five hippos.
Philadelphia Zoo Announces Wildlife Warrior Summer Camp 2014
Philadelphia Zoo today announced that registration for the popular Wildlife Warriors Summer Camp 2014 is open. Campers from ages 4-13 can sign up for one-week-long sessions, which introduce them to the spectacular wonders of the natural world through up-close animal encounters and interactive activities. Each session runs from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. from Monday through Friday, including before and after camp options, in June, July and August.
