Philadelphia Zoo Names Matthew Malek as Chief Financial Officer

PHILADELPHIA, PA (June 17, 2015) - Philadelphia Zoo announced Matthew (Matt) Malek as its new Chief Financial Officer.
Malek brings extensive financial and operational leadership experience, as well as a high degree of energy and enthusiasm to the Zoo’s mission and strategic plan.  Malek began his career at Arthur Andersen and has held leadership roles at Amkor Technology, FMC and most recently AGI.  His career has taken him around the globe, providing a unique perspective on people, communication and business. He credits his global experience, which included time in over 50 countries, with molding his daily approach to business and life which is; “keep it simple, remain transparent and be candid.”
Malek will report to Philadelphia Zoo President and Chief Executive Officer, Vikram H. Dewan.  “It is a great to welcome Matt to the Philadelphia Zoo’s senior leadership team,” says Vikram H. Dewan, Zoo President and CEO. “His forward- thinking and extensive experience and knowledge are essential as we continue on with the Zoo’s remarkable transformation.”
Malek is dedicated to preserving and enhancing the Zoo experience for its over 1.35 million guests annually.  “I am thrilled to work with such a talented staff, effective leadership team and committed Board of Directors,” says Matt Malek, Chief Financial Officer. “I look forward to my role in sustaining the future of the Philadelphia Zoo for generations to come as well as getting to know the staff, Board and of course, the animals.”
A Philadelphia area native, Malek graduated from St. Joe’s University where he played baseball and majored in Accounting.
