A typical lifespan for mongoose lemurs in zoos is 23 years of age. Typical lifespan in the wild is not known, but is likely to be shorter than in zoos.
The birth season is around mid-October with a 37-day estrus cycle and 128-day gestation period. Females typically give birth to one offspring, but twins are not uncommon.
