Leadership

From the President and CEO

Since 1859, the Philadelphia Zoo has served a key role in the region’s life and culture. Today the Zoo is Philadelphia’s highest attended cultural institution, and is recognized as a compelling living classroom and conservation leader committed to saving endangered animals around the world.

The Philadelphia Zoo – America’s first zoo – is now building a new children’s zoo that embraces our mission of conservation, education and recreation. The Hamilton Family Children’s Zoo & Faris Family Education Center will be a truly innovative children’s zoo, with domestic and exotic animals helping to engage visitors in a ra nge of conservation actions to steward the natural world.

Dorrance Hamilton and the Hamilton family have provided remarkable support and ongoing leadership for this project, bringing us to this point in the Zoo’s history, and joining us as we move forward into a new and dynamic era for the Philadelphia Zoo.

We are proud to forge ahead with building the Hamilton Family Children’s Zoo & Faris Family Education Center, and we look forward to sharing this extraordinary exhibit and learning destination with children and families for generations to come.

From the Campaign Co-Chairs

For many people, the Philadelphia Zoo provides their first glimpse of wildlife and, at the Children’s Zoo, their first opportunity to interact with animals. While working to improve the lives and preserve the habitats of endangered and threatened species around the world, the Zoo brings joy into the lives of all who come to this remarkable and beloved institution in Fairmount Park.

We are pleased to be part of this community and to serve as co-chairs of the Campaign for the Hamilton Family Children’s Zoo & Faris Family Education Center.

We deeply appreciate our early supporters who have helped us raise more than 60 percent of our campaign goal. There is still much work to be done, however, and the success of the Campaign for the Hamilton Family Children’s Zoo & Faris Family Education Center depends on the contributions of all Zoo friends.

As the Campaign becomes more visible over the next year, we hope you will join us in supporting the Hamilton Family Children’s Zoo & Faris Family Education Center. Together, we can ensure that children and families in this region have the opportunity to connect with animals from around the globe and deepen the understanding and care of the natural world.
