This new Zoo on Wheels program offers students a chance to meet live animals, participate in hands-on scientific investigation and learn how their actions can make a difference in the lives of animals. This program will be tailored to meet the specific needs of your grade level.

Polar Bear Action Lab:Polar bears are impacted by changing climate and scientists estimate their numbers will continue to decline. Students participate in an activity that illustrates the challenges that polar bears face, complete a scientific investigation related to arctic adaptations and meet two live animals that are impacted by climate change.

Saving Amphibians Action Lab:With the help of scientists from Penn State and Conservation International, Dr. Carlos Martinez Rivera recently traveled to Haiti to rescue some of the most endangered species of frogs in the world. Your students will learn about this field conservation program and how the Zoo is working in the Delaware Valley and across the globe to save frogs. Students will meet 2 live amphibians from the Zoo.

Introduce your students to animals and conservation in a small group setting. This 45-minute program is designed for audiences of 50 or fewer students and includes 4 live animal ambassadors from the Philadelphia Zoo. Choose from our list of topics which address academic standards in science for NJ, PA, and DE.

Who's Who at the Zoo: Discover amazing adaptations that define birds, mammals and reptiles. Students learn all about classification and how animals adapt for survival in the wild. Includes a bird, mammal, reptile, and "mystery" animal.

Insect Exploration: An up-close view of invertebrates (classroom program only). Includes 4-5 species of invertibrates.

Radical Rainforests:Starting from the ground up, students learn about this complex ecosystem and meet an animal from each layer of the rainforest. Includes 4 animals from the rainforest.

Bird Exploration: With over 10,000 species this is a complex group of animals! Students meet different types of bird species and learn how they are adapted to survive in their particular habitat. Includes 4 different types of birds.

Reptile Exploration: Students come face to face with snakes, turtles, and lizards to learn about diverse reptilian lifestyles and the importance of these misunderstood animals in a variety of ecosystems. Includes a snake, lizard, turtle and a "mystery" reptile.
