Community Access


The Philadelphia Zoo Community Access Program.  As of 2010, the Zoo has announced a new umbrella program reflecting our commitment to providing free admission to eligible Title 1 school children, as well as to community groups and 501 (c) (3) organizations whose mission and organizational goals support exploration and education of children and families in the region. The Zoo is committed to a goal of at least 5% of Community Accessour total admission coming through this program – in a typical year, this will result in at least 60,000 free admissions to the Zoo. The Community Access Program is one facet of the Zoo’s initiatives to strengthen our role as a community resource and to create future generations of environmental stewards.
 
Through the Community Access Program, the Zoo provides opportunities not just for free admissions, but in-kind donations for raffles, other fundraisers and other events, and off-site appearances by Zoo on Wheels and other Zoo outreach programs.
 
Through the Community Access Program, the Zoo will consider all applications from the types of organizations listed below. In order to be considered for free admissions or other resources through the program, you must first apply online. (Please Note: If you are a Title 1 school requesting tickets for a school trip, please click here). Once your application is reviewed and approved, you will be given additional steps to complete the process. If you are not approved, please review the criteria and apply again in the future. Awards will be limited and an organization may only receive one type of award annually. Due to the number of requests received by the Zoo, please allow at least 4 weeks to process all requests.
  • 501c3 Non-profit Organizations or Community-based Organizations
  • Public, Private, Charter or Parochial Schools
  • Licensed Day Care Centers
  • Licensed Summer Camp Programs
  • City, Township or County Municipalities (including Public Libraries)
  • P.T.O., P.T.A. or H.S.A

Community Events at the Philadelphia Zoo

The Zoo will also continue to work with non-profit organizations and community-based organizations to host affordable and effective events at the Philadelphia Zoo. For more information on non-profit events at the Philadelphia Zoo, please contact communityrelations@phillyzoo.org.
