Duties
The Director of Pathology conducts diagnostic investigations of diseases and causes of death and makes recommendations to improve the health, well-being and reproductive capacity of Zoo animals; reports to the Director of Animal Health.
Requirements
Degree in veterinary medicine; ACVP certified, preferably with three (3) to five (5) years experience in zoo, captive wild animal, or wildlife pathology. Demonstrated ability to conduct independent research projects in some aspect of animal biology preferred. Demonstrated ability to develop and sustain effective working relationships with coworkers; superior interpersonal ability; ability to work effectively with diverse personalities; tactful; mature; flexible. Demonstrated experience developing and monitoring department and project budget within established objectives and parameters.
Availability
Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include weekends, evenings and holidays.
