High School Graduates only please.  Please note that all internships are unpaid.

Our career internship program is one of the many ways the Philadelphia Zoo demonstrates a commitment to its mission of conservation, education, science and recreation. Through our internships, we provide practical, high-quality experiences that help you achieve your academic and professional goals.   Recent college graduates and career changers are encouraged to apply.

Unless specifically stated otherwise, we do not have application deadlines for our internships. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis and positions are filled on a first-come, first-serve basis.

To apply, please submit a completed intern application, letter of interest stating which internship(s) you are applying for and why, a detailed resume, a letter of recommendation and a copy of your college transcripts (unofficial copies are acceptable). Please compile all the required documents and submit them as a complete packet to:

**ONLY COMPLETE APPLICATIONS WILL BE CONSIDERED**

 All interns are required to complete a PA Child Abuse Clearance and PA State Criminal Background Check prior to beginning work at the Philadelphia Zoo. Interns whose permanent residence is outside Pennsylvania may also need to complete an FBI clearance including fingerprinting.

Zoo Internships:

Below are current internships opportunities.  College students, recent graduates and career changers are welcome to apply for the following Zoo internships. Additional internships may be available in Guest Relations, Conservation, Human Resources, Events and Development. For more information, call 215-243-5200 or email zoointerns@phillyzoo.org. 

 
Animal Care Internship
If you are a college student majoring in Biology, Zoology, Animal Science, Environmental Education or a related field or recent graduate in any of those fields and you are interested in a career working with animals, the Philadelphia Zoo can provide you with valuable hands-on experience.
 
Public Programming Internship
The Public Programming Internship is designed to give college students practical experience in developing educational programming and events and the opportunity to gain a broad background of the Zoo community and how it operates.
 
Marketing & Communications Internship
Support the Zoo's marketing and communications departments by assisting with a wide variety of responsibilities including press releases and events, promotional events, seasonal publications and more.
 
Public Safety Internship
Eligible interns will receive practical training on the inner workings of a functioning public safety department in a historic venue.
 
Information Technology Internship
Support our IT department with LAN servers, telecommunications and network administration.
 
Environmental Education and Animal Behavior Internship
The Environmental Education and Animal Behavior Internship is designed to give college students practical experience in animal observation, education, conservation, and animal presentation.
 
Events Internship
As a member of the Guest Relations department, the Events intern plays an integral role in assisting with the coordination and implementation of events
 
Guest Relations Intern
The Guest Relations Internship is designed to provide college students interested in the Hospitality, Tourism, and Amusement industry practical experience in the Guest Relations Department at one of the region’s most visited cultural institutions.
 
Development Internship
Support the Development Department by contributing to the management of the upper level membership program, the Friends of the Philadelphia Zoo.
 
First Aid Internship
Interns will serve as first responders to medical situations. You will serve under the Director of Public Safety, the Public Safety Site Supervisor, and other Public Safety Supervisors.
