Cats of the World
From the majestic lion to the magnificent tiger, the stealthy puma to the elusive snow leopard, you will experience a wide range of big cat species. Learn to differentiate the spot patterns on their coats, and why some cats are built for speed and others for stamina. We know you'll have a roarin' good time!
Monkey Business
Can you tell a monkey from an ape? How many primates have blue eyes? Get in the swing of things as you learn about brachiation, opposable thumbs, and “aunting” behavior. Prepare to go ape over our collection of primates, including tamarins, lemurs, gorillas and more!
Africa and Madagascar
Kick back and enjoy this safari stroll to see Africa’s most magnificent animals. Giraffes, zebras, rhinos and wild dogs are just a few of the highlights covered during this adventure through the Zoo. Stop and see our leaping lemurs and discover the treasure trove of other unique and endangered species found only on the island of Madagascar.
Up Close and Personal
This adults-only tour reveals the romantic side of the animal kingdom. Courtship rituals, mating practices, and the rearing of offspring are all topics which will be discussed in tactful detail. From calls to dances to twirling tails, this tour gives you a passionate perspective on procreation!
The Solitude
Tours are available for groups of 7 (seven) people or more and with as little as two weeks notice. Each tour will be approximately an hour long.
Group tours cost $5.00 per person (plus parking, if required). You can also purchase a combination Zoo-Solitude ticket for $18.00. These tickets can only be purchased in advance – for right now, there are no on-site sales.

Art & Architecture Walkabouts are available as well. The tours are led by Philadelphia Zoo Docents, highly trained volunteers who give exciting tours on every Zoo topic you can imagine. The tour lasts about 60 minutes.
Important Information
- Recommended for children over the age of 10.
- No strollers are permitted in The Solitude.
- Unfortunately, The Solitude is not ADA compliant because it is an historic structure. Access to the interior is limited.
- Guests in wheelchairs are welcome on the Walkabout, but must have their own attendant/aide.
- The Art & Architecture Walkabout requires the stamina to walk the Zoo for one hour.
- No food or drink is permitted in the house.
- Tours are limited to 25 people, so advance reservations are required.
