Parking Policies and Procedures

  • All buses will unload on 34th Street, where they may be greeted by a Zoo staff member. Buses are not permitted to drop off or pick up at the main entrance to the Zoo.
  • Buses will be directed to park in the Giraffe Parking Lot located at 38th and Girard Ave. Buses park for free.
  • Vans and cars will be charged $12 and are welcome to park in any available lot. This price is non-negotiable. Members with proper I.D. park for free.
  • Car and bus parking is not permitted along 34th Street.

Entrance and Departure Procedures

  • Before you leave school, make sure that you have your wristbands/tickets, which are required to enter the Zoo. Reprinting tickets on the day of your visit will delay your entry.
  • Distribute wristbands/tickets to students prior to getting off the bus. Many school groups arrive at the same time so it is difficult to reassemble your group after they leave the bus.
  • During our busier months, a Zoo staff member will greet your bus., answer questions and direct your group to the Zoo entrance.
  • If you need to pay for or pick up your tickets on the day of your trip, Zoo staff will direct you to the Group Sales Ticket Window located at the Channel 6 ZooBalloon with your payment and confirmation. Avoid administrative fees and extended delays entering the Zoo by paying in advance.
  • Individuals who do not arrive with their group will be charged the general admission rates. Field trip leaders are responsible for getting wristbands to late arrivals. The Zoo cannot page a group, so please exchange cell phone numbers or meeting places with your late arrivals.
  • All bus drivers are admitted to the Zoo for free. Bus drivers must obtain a ticket at the Zoo's Box Office to gain free admission. Proper ID required.
  • The Zoo recommends that groups meet at the main entrance (North Gate Plaza) to regroup at the end of your day.
  • All buses will pick up groups on 34th Street. Buses will not be permitted to park in the pick up zone. Teachers/chaperones should communicate via cell phone with their bus driver or arrange for an exact time for pick up.
