Newly renovated in 2001, the Rare Animal Conservation Center hosts a wide variety of unique and endangered animals. Among subterranean eusocial rodents, bats with a three-foot wingspan, monkeys with vibrant orange fur, there's no telling what you'll discover inside. As you observe these dazzling creatures, you'll learn all about the issues that affect their survival, the role of zoos in protecting wildlife all over the world and some things that you can do to help.
Did you know that the work of the Philadelphia Zoo goes far beyond its gates? The Zoo donates thousands of dollars every year to support scientists and conservation projects around the globe, and you help us do that by paying admission, making donations or becoming a member. The Zoo is involved in numerous projects, and we'll tell you about many of them in this building.
