Trees planted with your contribution to the Footprints carbon offset portfolio will remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere as they grow. These same trees will also restore lost habitat for wildlife and help many species face new challenges to survival brought about by climate change. Your offset today will be realized gradually over the 50-70 year lifetime of the trees.

Footprints carbon offsets have not, at present, received third party verification nor are they listed on any carbon exchange. Therefore, they have no market value and cannot be sold or traded nor used for regulatory compliance. The Zoo’s carbon credits are technically “futures” because no trees have yet been planted and therefore CO2 sequestration is not occurring at the time of the contribution. As no goods or services will be provided to you in return for your charitable contribution, your contribution is tax deductible to the full extent of the law.
