Duties

The Community Partnerships Internship is designed to provide college students interested in pursuing a career related to non-profit events and community outreach with hands on experience in this area. This intern will be integral in helping to maintain and support the expansion of the Philadelphia Zoo’s community partnerships through administrative support, event assistance and project management.  This internship will play a role in advancing the Zoo’s philanthropic work within the community as well as through community based events on and off site.

Please note that the above job description is meant to be generic and represents the basic job duties required for this internship. This internship may be redirected at times, based on necessity and evaluation of performance and interests.
  • Facilitate fulfillment of Community Access Program
  • Management of web application process for Community Access Program
  • Respond to phone and email inquiries
  • Support, plan and help to execute events
  • Research potential partners
  • Regularly communicate with potential partners, vendors and current partners

Requirements

This internship is open to students with a minimum of a 2.5 GPA from a college or university. Applicants should also be able to demonstrate previous experience in event planning, administrative support, customer service, marketing, OR work experience at a non-profit organization.
 
Applicants must have the ability to work independently and produce results. Applicants must possess excellent written and oral communications skills and exude a professional appearance and manner. Applicants should be creative thinkers with proven examples of effective problem solving. Applicants should be detail oriented and able to balance multiple responsibilities at one time. Applicants must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically adept in Excel and must be able to conduct internet based research.

Availability

This internship lasts 10-12 weeks and requires a commitment of at least 18 hours per week, and applicants must have weekend availability.
