Contrary to popular belief, not all penguins like to live in cold and snowy environments, and the Humboldt is an example of that. This type of penguin can be found in South America along the Pacific coast, especially in Chile and Peru. As you will see, the females and males look almost exactly alike and so it is through not only sight, but also sound that these penguins are able to distinguish each other as individuals. In this way, the penguins are very vocal and very social. Come join in on the chatter and listen as our new chick Margherita, born January 25, 2011, finds its voice!
