The Word Orangutan means “man of the forest”, and with this
primate’s remarkable intelligence, it’s easy to see where the name comes from. Orangutans have been known to use objects as tools such as leaves to create a cup for drinking water. Our Primate Reserve houses three of these magnificent human-like creatures including baby Batu, born to mother, Tua and father, Sugi on October 2, 2009.
