Tiger Cub Photo Gallery
The Zoo’s rare Amur tiger cubs are about to turn two! In honor of their first birthday on May 24, 2008, the Philadelphia Zoo’s three female Amur tiger cubs, Terney, Changbai and Koosaka, received birthday eats and treats from their keepers.
The birth of these tiger cubs is the result of a national effort to ensure a healthy zoo population of this endangered big cat. There are only an estimated 400 Amur tigers left in the wild. In addition to participating in the AZA breeding program, the Philadelphia Zoo works to save Amur tigers in the wild through support of the Save the Tiger Fund and the Tigris Foundation, both of which are battling threats to Amur tigers in their native habitat in eastern Russia and northern China.
Please enjoy this gallery, which celebrates our beloved cubs in their first year.
