Participate in X•tink•shun, a Wild Puppet X•perience!
Didi the dodo's species has been extinct for 300 years, but she isn't going quietly! She founded X•tink•shun, an organization of extinct and endangered animals who have joined paws for the cause of animal conservation. Each X•tink•shun animal has a story to tell and a suggestion to make about what we can do to protect, preserve and sustain animal habitats. Join Didi, The Douc langur, Phibi Frog, Iggle the eaglet, Igor the tiger, Leo the golden lion tamarin and Alfreda Cheetah to lend your voice to animals that need our help. Hear the cast of X•tink•shun's stories every day at the Zoo and participate in a parade to bring about the X•tink•shun of extinction.

MAKE IT! Bird CD Recycling Project (Courtesy of FamilyFun.com)
Windows can reflect the outdoor landscape or appear transparent which can be confusing to birds. They do not realize that the glass is a barrier. Anywhere from 100 million to 1 billion birds are killed by window strikes each year in the U.S. alone. This adds up to ¼ of the yearly migratory population! Objects such as thin strips of ribbon or used CDs hung on strings can distort reflections from glass and prevent bird deaths.

Craft Instructions:
1. Gather used CDs or DVDs or have a drive to collect used CDs/DVDs in your school.
2. Decorate your CDs! For coloring projects, apply a label over the non-reflective side of the disc or simply glue on feathers, jewels, and other fun objects.
3. Use a small suction cup and string to hang decorated CDs in the window with the reflective side out.
