Frogs & Toads

Both frogs and toads are actually considered frogs. When the term "frog" is used, it usually refer to species that have long legs, smooth moist skin, and a slim body. Most frogs will live in or near water. Most toads have smaller hind legs, rough skin, and stout bodies, and they are usually found living farther away from bodies of water than frogs. The skin of both frogs and toads is thin and permeable. This allows for water to easily pass in and out of the body, but it allows harmful pollution and chemicals to enter the body as well. Many wild frog and toad populations are in serious decline due to harmful changes in their environment.
