Philadelphia Zoo Sesquicentennial History Tours
Tours of The Solitude are given by the Friends of The Solitude. Scheduled tours, lasting 45 to 60 minutes, take place on most Tuesdays and Saturdays; see the 2009 Tour Schedule below for available dates. Advance reservations required book online!
- Tuesdays: 10:00 – 11:00 a.m.
- Saturdays: 10:00 – 11:00 a.m.
Art & Architecture Walkabouts are available on Tuesdays and Saturdays, as well. The tours are led by Philadelphia Zoo Docents, highly trained volunteers who give exciting tours on every Zoo topic you can imagine. The tour lasts about 60 minutes.
- Tuesdays: 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
- Saturdays: 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
Important Information
- Recommended for children over the age of 10.
- No strollers are permitted in The Solitude.
- Unfortunately, The Solitude is not ADA compliant because it is an historic structure. Access to the interior is limited.
- Guests in wheelchairs are welcome on the Walkabout, but must have their own attendant/aide.
- The Art & Architecture Walkabout requires the stamina to walk the Zoo for one hour.
- No food or drink is permitted in the house.
- Tours are limited to 25 people, so advance reservations are required.
