Another Update on Bette and Kallie
9/14/2009 12:00:00 AM
The Pittsburgh Zoo and ICC staff report that Kallie and Bette are continuing to settle in comfortably. They have figured out their new bathing routine, and actually lean close against the stall so that keepers can wash behind their ears and hard to reach areas. They also pick up their feet on cue so keepers can file their nails and care for their footpads. The staff expect Kallie and Bette will soon let them draw a blood sample from a vein in the ear, which will make it easy for the vets to monitor their health. Enjoying themselves in their new environment, the ICC staff says their personalities are still the same, with Kallie being more lively and Bette being a bit more reserved.
