Tortoise Trail

April - October (weather permitting)

Lace up your boots and hit the trail! You're headed inside the summer yard of the oldest residents at the Zoo - our Galapagos and Aldabra tortoises. You'll get mighty personal with the 500-pound inhabitants as you stand eye-to-eye, just inches away. The exhibit also features a replica of a working research station that might be found on the Galapagos Islands. Here you can find all kinds of great new facts about what scientists are doing to help wild tortoises.

During your expedition, be sure to meet Mommy. Believed to be one of the oldest living Galapagos tortoises in any U.S. zoo, she recently celebrated her 75th anniversary at the Zoo. Tortoise Trail is open every day from Memorial Day to Labor Day and on warm days in the spring and fall. In the winter, the tortoise can be seen inside the Reptile and Amphibian House.
