What's the difference?
There are three main ways you can tell a crocodile and an alligator apart.
1. The shape of their snouts. Crocodiles tend to have a more pointed, V-shaped snout while alligators have a wider, U-shaped snout.
2. Their teeth. A crocodiles' top and bottom teeth are always exposed even when their mouths are shut. An alligator’s lower teeth are not visible with their mouth closed.
3. Where they live. Crocodiles prefer living in saltier water while alligators typically live in freshwater marshes and lakes.
