A Colorful Pig
The red river hog is one of the most colorful mammal species in the world. Sporting a bright red coat with striking white markings and large, tassel-like ears, these hogs are some of the most interesting creatures at the Zoo.

Not-Picky Eaters
At the Zoo, red river hogs eat a wide variety of foods including grass, berries, insects and carrion. Like other pigs, they use their strong snout to forage and dig. Found in central and western Africa, red river hogs typically live in large groups that include males (boar) and females (sows) and their young.
