LumiNature Presented by Chase Glimmers Again at Philadelphia Zoo
A brilliant multi-media expedition of lights, sounds and surprises shimmer again!

PHILADELPHIA, PA — (November 18, 2021) — LumiNature at Philadelphia Zoo glimmers again this holiday season. Now open through January 9, LumiNature transforms the Zoo from its daytime magic into a dazzling winter wonderland.  Featuring 14 illuminated zones, LumiNature takes guests on a magical journey of lights, sounds and surprises, offering lively displays and newly-enhanced installations to thrill guests and kick off the holiday season in everyone. All guests should pre-purchase timed-tickets, making reservations at www.PhiladelphiaZoo.org. Prices are $25.00 for adults and $20.00 for kids.

“We are thrilled to bring LumiNature back to the region,” says Amy Shearer, Philadelphia Zoo’s Chief Marketing & Experience Officer. “We really wanted to ring in the holiday season in a unique way, and LumiNature does that by combining the joy of animals, nature and the holiday season interesting, dazzling fashion. We made a number of amazing enhancements since our inaugural year in 2019, adding more areas to enjoy, draped over a million lights and sounds, coordinated unique entertainment, creating a truly immersive and joyous multi-media experience. Extending outside of the Zoo’s gates, cascading blue and white meteor light showers welcome everyone traveling down 34th street to Girard and past the Zoo to the parking garage area. On the Zoo’s main plaza, five 80-foot-tall London Plane trees are wrapped in stunning blue lights creating a fun and festive atmosphere for everyone, living, visiting or passing through the area to appreciate. This is a small token to the community and the many supporters throughout the region for their continued commitment to the Zoo,” says Shearer.

In addition to a million lights, sounds and surprises, LumiNature features visually-stunning artists from 7Textures, that include amazing stilt walkers, creative bubble performers, brightly light butterflies, costumes characters and more! Add in awesome retail, seasonal fare, hot cocoa and the ever-delicious adult beverages and I guarantee, LumiNature will spark the holiday spirit in everyone,” says Shearer.
LumiNature is the perfect family outing, there is something for everyone to enjoy!

LumiNature comes alive from the moment of arrival and continues with a flurry of sparkling lights and whimsical storytelling through light and video technology, audio and joyous music, seasonal fare, and more.

Offering a variety of areas of sparkle, LumiNature features NEW spots like; Whistle-Stop Wonder, set against the backdrop of sparkling light-filled trees, here kids can take a trip around Impala Fountain on the New Wilderness Express Train, enjoy delicious hot cocoa and seasonal treats while watching unique light artistes performing visually-stunning theatrics; Winter of Love, a love-themed, 60s vibe area that features a Love Shack kissing/elbow bump booth, and a chill zone with comfy bean bag chairs.  Our

famous 25- foot- tall pink flamingo tree made entirely of lit flamingo ornaments takes center stage in this funky area. Kick back and enjoy some hot apple cider and hot chocolate – both available to be spiked!!  If you’re looking for a snack try our warm pretzels and a winter- themed beer; Artic Passage, comes to life via an oversized, Earth- shaped 3D screen showing programmed lights, music, sound effects and color, all under a canopy of glowing lights. Dine and imbibe in specialty cocktails at Bites Under the Lights, a newly-enhanced, heated food destination that features nightly entertainment; At Tis the SEAson, plunge under the sea and adventure through a 100 ft-long aquarium tunnel filled with stunning lights, gigantic ultraviolet coral rock reef, enormous jellyfish and a sure-to-make-anyone-giggle octopus’ tree; Stop by Sweet Whimsicality, the perfect location to sit under brilliantly lit orbs and sparkling trees while snacking on gooey s’mores by the fire. Delightful hot cocoa, sweet snacks and a bubble performer round out this new exciting area; In our Neck of the Woods, vote on your favorite community-designed and decorated trees. Neighborhood residents, community groups and local schools partnered with the Zoo and let their imaginations run wild, creating custom animal-themed trees! Guests can cast their vote online; Snap a pic at Flutter Flair, the perfect spot for a selfie or group shot is in front of a stunning 22-feet-tall Butterfly Tree surrounded by a magical collection of oversized, whimsical monarchs and beautifully-winged artistic performers; GO, takes explorers on an amazing trip around the globe, visiting breathtaking ecosystems, highlighting the beauty and diversity of our planet, celebrating creatures, climates and cultures on seven continents.

LumiNature also brings back guest favorites…..with a twist, At Penguin Royale, walk the red-carpet alongside hundreds of glowing penguins, under glistening chandeliers amid a mix of light and sound.
Flamingo Fancy, is back but situated in a new location and double the lights and triple the beauty. Snake Awake, Big Cat Stalk and the Tree Glee Club also return and are enhanced in 2021.
