Golden Girls Hatch Day Celebration
The Golden Girls, the first Western Santa Cruz Galapagos tortoises to ever hatch at the Zoo, are celebrating their first hatch day—and you’re invited!
Stop by the Reptile & Amphibian House Saturday, February 28 and Sunday, March 1 from 11 AM-1 PM for wildlife chats, special “berry first birthday” enrichment, photo ops, activities and more. These little ones and their nearly 100-year-old parents, Mommy and Abrazzo, became world famous when we shared the news of their arrival in April 2025. Since then, Sophia, Blanche, Rose and Dorothy have gained an additional 12 siblings, all of whom continue to grow healthy and strong.
Schedule for each day:
11 AM – Wildlife Chat
11:30 AM – Hatchlings get their hatchday “cake”
12 PM – Galapagos tortoise conservation children’s activity
12:30 PM – Wildlife Chat and Check Up Measurements
