Join us at the Zoo for a bear-y special picnic!

You and your teddy bear are invited to celebrate the grand opening of the Francis J. Carey Bear Country with the Berenstain Bears!

You’ll have a chance to meet Papa and Mama Berenstain, design your teddy bear’s very own bandana, and participate in a Scavenbear Hunt with a paw-some prize! Take your teddy bear to the Teddy Bear Clinic for a check-up with the Philadelphia Zoo Veterinary Staff and choose from adorable bear-themed face paint and caricature designs. Enjoy live music, play lawn games for all ages, and learn about the bears that call Philadelphia Zoo home. Teddy bears–and other stuffed friends–receive free admission to the Zoo.

Picnic baskets are available for pre-order only in limited supply! With only one hundred baskets available per day, your picnic basket includes:

  • Picnic lunch for 2-6 guests featuring gourmet sandwiches of your choice, chips, a cookie, fruit salad, and water
  • Your family’s very own copy of the beloved book The Berenstain Bears: Welcome to Bear Country
  • Custom Philadelphia Zoo-branded picnic blanket
  • Bear Paw Pass to hop in the fast lane to meet Papa and Mama Berenstain
  • Teddy Bear Bandana to color for your stuffed friend – one per child
  • 15% off of a stuffed friend of your choice at any Zoo retail location – one per child
  • Handwoven picnic basket to keep
  • Option to add on discounted admission tickets!

Please note, Zoo Admission or a Zoo Membership is needed to attend Teddy Bear Picnic. With the purchase of a picnic basket, discounted admission tickets are available to add on at checkout (limit of six guests per basket). Your entire party must reserve in the same order.

Impala Lawn is open to all Zoo guests. Berenstain Bear Meet-and-Greet, Scavenbear Hunt, Teddy Bear Clinic, lawn games, and educational activities are included with Zoo admission. Concessions, bandanas, face painting, caricatures, and merchandise are available for purchase at the Teddy Bear Picnic. Picnic baskets are available for pre-sale only.
