Endangered Species

Endangered species are organisms that are in great risk of becoming extinct.

They may be threatened by a variety of challenges that people have caused such as habitat loss, pollution, introduction of invasive species, poaching and the pet trade. These threats limit the resources available, inhibit organisms from meeting their basic needs, and discourages their success. All of us have the opportunity to protect endangered species through our choices, our voices, and our collective actions.

Included are activities for students from K-12 to introduce content areas, observation-based exercises that can be used while here at the Zoo, and activities to expand student thinking!

The Philadelphia Zoo benefits from the support of the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation.
